Nurse’s Office Info.:

Flu season is upon us.  Please keep your child home should they have a temperature of 99 degrees or higher, and contact your pediatrician.  Good hand washing is encouraged to ward off germs – and using cough etiquette helps to trap germs within your arm by using your inner elbow as you cough or sneeze.  Remember:  children may not return to school until they are fever free for 24 hours without the use of any medication to help alleviate fever.  In addition, any child who is vomiting or has diarrhea should remain at home until the symptoms subside.

Attention 6th Grade Parents:  As per New York State Education Law, all students entering 7th Grade for the 2019/2020 school year must provide the School Nurse with a copy of the student’s most recent physical exam.  A physical exam is considered valid if it is dated on or after September 4, 2018.  If your child has had an exam that falls within this time frame, then please forward the exam results to our Nurse’s Office, since this will satisfy the NYS requirement.  In addition to a physical exam, all 7th grade students MUST receive the Meningococcal Vaccination as per NYS Department of Health guidelines.  This vaccine must be received before the first day of school in September of 2019, and admittance to school will be denied should your child not have this vaccination.  If your child has not received one as of yet, please contact your MD to make an appointment for your child to receive a vaccination.  Once received, please forward the physical exam and vaccination to the Nurse’s Office.

Attention 8th Grade Parents:  As per New York State Education Law, all students entering 9th grade in 2019/2020, must provide the School Nurse with a copy of the student’s most recent physical exam.  A physical exam is considered valid if it is dated on or after September 4, 2018.  If your child has had an exam that falls within this time frame, then please forward the exam to the Nurse’s Office at Lakeland Copper Beech.  If you do not forward it to the Copper Beech Nurse’s Office this year, you will then need to send it to the School Nurse at the high school your child will be attending next year.
