Music Day:  E7

There will be Girls’ Basketball practice today, after school, in Gym A.  Plan to take the 5:30 bus home.

There will be Wrestling practice today, after school, in Gym B.  Plan to take the 5:30 bus home.

The Lakeland Copper Beech Middle School Gay-Straight Alliance Club will meet today, after school, in Room 302.  Plan to take the 4:30 bus home.  See Ms. Bloom in Room 226 or Ms. Weinbaum in the 6th Grade Guidance Office for more information.

The G.I.V.E./Cooking Club (Groups 2 & 3) will meet today, after school, in Room 338.  Plan to take the 5:30 bus home.

Honors Chorus will rehearse today, at 8:15 a.m., in Room 313.  This will be a sectional rehearsal for ALTOS only.  Please see Ms. Delli Carpini if you need a hard copy of the updated rehearsal schedule.

There will be a Student Government meeting on today, after school, in the Library.  Plan to take the 4:30 bus home.

SADD Club will meet today, after school, in Room 122.  Plan to take the 4:30 bus home.

Drama Club announcement:  today is the final day for auditions.  They will take place after school from 3:40 to 5:30 p.m.

There will be a Wrestling HOME match vs. Fox Lane at 4:30 p.m.  Students meet in Gym B to help move mats.

There will be Boys’ Basketball practice today, after school, in Gym A.  Plan to take the 5:30 bus home.

There will be a Mathcounts meeting today, after school, in Room 216.  Plan to take the 5:30 bus home.

The Knit & Crochet Club will meet today, after school, in Room 308.  All students, faculty and staff are welcome!  Plan to take the 4:30 bus home.

Miscellaneous/Upcoming:

-The Blood Drive will be on Wednesday, January 23rd from 3:30 to 8:00 p.m.  Volunteers are needed!  We are looking for help and for entertainment (singing, musicians)…  Reminder that students who volunteered in October and want Honor Society hours committed to all three drives and should plan to attend.  Permission slips are at the front desk and must be in before noon on Wednesday.

-Yearbook News:  Order your 2018-2019 Copper Beech Yearbook now!  Yearbooks can be purchased at www.jostensyearbooks.com.  Yearbooks are for sale for $44.08 (tax included) until the end of February, at which point, the price will increase slightly on March 1, 2019.  Hold on to your confirmation as proof of purchase, and in June, you will have a wonderful yearbook to document memories from middle school.  We thank you and look forward to your orders!  Personalized Ad Information:  Time is running out to put your thoughts, well wishes, and congratulations into words and pictures.  Yearbook recognition ads are a great way to communicate student achievement and important milestones.  You can now place an ad on-line at www.gradad.com.  This feature is available on-line ONLY.  All information needs to be put directly into the website and must be completed and paid for in full by February 1, 2019 – FIRM DEADLINE.

-The first meeting for the Computer Science Club will be in the next few weeks, so stay tuned!  Please be sure to keep checking this bulletin for the date and time.  See Ms. Novak in Room 121 with any questions.

-There will be a combined meeting of the Coding Club and Mathcounts on Monday, January 28th, in Room 216.  Plan to take the 5:30 bus home.  Students may leave at 4:30 if they choose to do so.

-Yoga Club is cancelled for January 22nd.  We will meet again next Tuesday, January 29th.

-The next Roots & Shoots meeting will be on Tuesday, January 29th, in Room 339 at 8:15 a.m.

Phys Ed Info.

Coach Sarsen will be running 6th, 7th, and 8th grade Field Hockey Intramurals on Mondays and Wednesdays at 8:00 a.m.  They will be held in Gym A.

Girls’ Basketball intramurals will be taking place in Gym B on Mondays and Thursdays from 8:05 to 8:55 a.m.  This is for girls in 6th, 7th and 8th grades.  Please see Ms. Stafford with any questions.

Nurse’s Office Info.:

As per NYS Education Laws, all 7th grade students must submit a current physical exam to the Nurse’s office.  In addition, all 7th grade students will be screened for vision and hearing, and all 7th grade girls will be screened for scoliosis if none was recorded on the physical exam.

Spring Sports Alert:  For athletes interested in playing a Spring Sport for the school, you must have a current physical exam on file in the Nurse's Office. In addition, if you use medication such as a Rescue Inhaler for asthma or have a food allergy, in which your MD has medication specifically ordered for you, then the Nurse must have the medication forms on file in the office. The sports sign-ups are completed online by a parent; however, if you do not have all the required papers in the Nurse's Office, then the card cannot be completed. Please refer to the Lakeland District Website for the dates when the online sports card process opens. Sports season for the Spring starts March 18, 2019.  The sports process starts with an on-line application completed by a parent/guardian.  The Chalk System will be accessible on the Main Page of the District Website.  The link for Middle School Sports program will OPEN on the Lakeland Website from February 22, 2019, and will CLOSE on March 6, 2019, at 9:00 a.m.  You MUST complete the Sports Card within this time frame.

Students who are applying for participation in a High School Sport (APP) will need to complete their Sports Card on the Lakeland District Website starting on February 8, 2019, and closing on February 20, 2019 at 9:00 a.m.  You MUST complete the Sports Card within this time frame.

Attention 8th Grade Parents:  As per New York State Education Law, all students entering 9th grade (for the 2019/2020 school year) must provide the school nurse with a copy of their most recent physical exam.  This exam must be recorded on the approved NYS School Health Examination Form.  This form can be found on our district website, and the exam is valid if dated on or after September 4, 2018.  In addition, all New York State Pediatricians have been informed of this new legislation.  If your child has had an exam that falls within this time frame, then please forward the exam to our Nurse’s Office – if not, you can send it to the School Nurse at the high school your child will be attending next year.

As per New York State Education Law, all students entering SEVENTH GRADE for the 2019/2020 school year must provide the school Nurse a copy of your child’s most recent physical exam.  This exam must be recorded on the approved NYS School Health Examination Form.  This form can be found at our district website, and the exam is valid if dated on or after September 4, 2018.  In addition, all New York State Pediatricians have been informed of this new legislation.  If your child has had an exam that falls within this time frame, then please forward the exam to the LCBMS Nurse’s Office.  In addition to a physical exam, all 7th grade students MUST receive the Meningococcal Vaccination as per the Department of Health guidelines.  This vaccine must be received before the first day of school in September, 2019.  If your child has not received one as of yet, please contact your MD to make an appointment for your child to receive the vaccination.  Once received, please forward the physical exam and vaccination to the Nurse’s Office.
