February 2023 newsletter

Happy February everyone! We had a lot to celebrate in the month of January. We started off with a PBIS assembly focused on the “I” in PRIDE - in control and safety. Students were reminded of ways we can be safe in all areas of our school. We also engaged in a wonderful virtual author visit with Peter Reynolds. He not only read us the book, Be You, but he also taught us how to be illustrators. Thank you PTA for making this happen! We also want to thank Mrs. O’Connor for putting together the wonderful exhibit at district office for our Gallery One artists. Our Wiz Fit Challenge was also quite a success! We thank the many families who registered and participated in this PTA fundraiser. Our students had a great time and enjoyed the interactive assemblies and acknowledgments. World Culture Night was a wonderful opportunity for TJ families to connect and engage in conversations about the many cultural traditions shared throughout our school. What a heartwarming event! We thank everyone who was involved in helping to make this dream a reality!

Our new AIS reading and math cycles are underway, as well as our new enrichment groups. Grade four students practiced with a math computer-based test simulation in order to prepare for future computer-based testing. The students learned how to use electronic math tools to solve problems. It’s that time again to receive an update on your child/children’s progress. Please be on the lookout for interim reports going home in backpacks on Feb. 3.

We look forward to the many upcoming events February brings and wish all a restful mid-winter break from Feb. 20-24. Please take a look at our Facebook page for updates on school events, student work, and to get a glimpse of everyday life here at TJ.

Warm regards,
Chris Urso & Antonella Delli Carpini
