Lakeland Copper Beech Middle School

Grade 8 School Counseling

Congratulations!  Your child has made it to eighth grade and will be part of the challenges and excitement that eighth grade holds.  Challenges include the state assessments in English, Math, Science, Social Studies and Foreign language as well as the higher expectations that prepare students for high school level work.  Ah, but the excitement of currently being upper classmen (or women) and moving on to high school next year!

The eighth grade guidance staff plays an integral part in helping to shape your child to be successful emotionally, socially and academically. We are typically the “hub central” for information about your children and can work with them in times of need. But need may take many forms from a difficult day emotionally to assisting a student with test anxiety. Here are some of the activities we have planned for this school year:
  • In-class Career program
  • Brown Bag Lunch groups
  • New Student breakfast and groups
  • Peer Tutoring program with the sixth grade
  • Peer Leadership program activities
  • Academic Success groups

In addition to these exciting groups and programs we are involved with your child on a regular basis.

  • The counselors monitor grades throughout the year
  • Work with your child’s class schedule
  • Arrange team meetings with parents
  • Work with the high schools to ensure proper placement
