Equity Walks

What is an Equity Walk?
Equity Walks are a type of observational learning walk-through where facilitators have the opportunity to identify areas of celebration and areas of focus.

Why? To work towards ensuring all school buildings are welcoming environments for the entire school community.
Who? Equity Walks are conducted by each school’s E4A Committee.
Where? Committee members reviewed common areas both inside and outside of the school.
When? Equity Walks take place periodically throughout the year, on an "as needed" basis determined by the E4A School Committee or larger District Council.

During an Equity Walk, the following checklist can be used as a self reflection tool or used by an
outside observer:  Culturally Responsive Classroom Checklist

Findings from each building’s equity walk can be reviewed here.
