5112 Compulsory Ages of Attendance

All children residing within the District who are between the ages of five (5) years on or before December 1st of a school year and twenty-one (21) years and who have not obtained a high school diploma are entitled to enroll in the District.

All children are required by New York State law to attend school full time, in a public or nonpublic school, or be home schooled, unless exempt from attendance in accordance with law or regulation, from the first day of school in September of the school year in which the child becomes six years of age (by December 1st) through the last day of the school year in which such child becomes sixteen years of age.

It is the policy of the Lakeland Central School District to admit a child into kindergarten in September who shall have his or her fifth birthday on or before December 1st of that year.
