News, Forms and Fundraisers

Welcome back to another year at Walter Panas! The Panas Parent Club (PPC) invites you to continue your membership for 2019–2020. The PPC is WPHS’s “light” version of a PTA. Rather than paying into the national PTA, every dollar raised goes directly to our own students. The PPC runs on donations from our parents and the community. Did you know that if even half of the families within the WPHS community donated the membership fee, we could cover all the contributions we make throughout the year? In addition to membership donations, we host at least two fundraising events during the year. Our most popular event—Adult Bowling Night—is held twice yearly and is a great parent’s night out, with a 50/50 and additional raffles of gifts and gift-cards to local restaurants and merchants. ALL FUNDS SUPPORT OUR STUDENTS AND OUR SCHOOL!

Along with providing refreshments at various school events, we host a Staff Appreciation Lunch for the entire WPHS staff in May. This is greatly appreciated by the teachers and staff members who put so much effort into ensuring our students get the most out of their high school experience.

The majority of our funds go to senior scholarships, and we award approximately 15 each year. Students eligible for consideration to receive a PPC senior scholarship are independently reviewed by the Scholarship Committee, led by the WPHS Guidance Department. Those students’ parents/guardians must have been a PPC member for all the years the student was enrolled at WPHS. So, keep your membership current!

Please print out the attached membership form and mail it back with your payment or bring it with you on BACK TO SCHOOL night on Thursday, Sept. 20. (Paying electronically is an option coming soon!) The PPC table will be in the main lobby. We’ll also be selling Panas umbrellas and Panas Pride yard signs!
