The connecting corridor is fully designed, but needed final budget financing approval this past May.  When the bids were returned for the project they were significantly greater than what we had budgeted. After discussions with architects and contractors, we determined that many contractors who would have potentially bid lower on the project were already committed to other projects. In addition, the work on the project would have started later and would have extended well into the new school year creating possible safety concerns. (read more)

Alumni in Action

Lakeland Central School District graduates can be found in a wide variety of occupations throughout multiple geographic areas.  On Alumni in Action webpages, we will be highlighting some of those graduates while providing a glimpse into their lives after graduating from Walter Panas or Lakeland high school.  (read more)

Lakeland is one of a select number of districts that houses two high schools. Many of the frequently asked questions we receive relate to similarities or differences when comparing Lakeland and Walter Panas High Schools. While we strive to provide consistent curriculum, instruction, assessment, facilities, co and extracurricular programs, it would be impossible to duplicate everything that takes place on each campus. Each school has staffing with different certifications and areas of expertise, as well as unique student populations that require specific and varied services. Clubs and other organizations are often initiated or sponsored by students and staff with particular interests that may not be of interest to the other high school. (read more)
