The Board of Education will hold a work session on Thursday, October 4, 2018, at 7:30 p.m. in the Lakeland Administration Building, 1086 East Main Street, Shrub Oak. The meeting is open to the public. Although there is no opportunity for public comment at work sessions, there are two opportunities for public comment at the Board's regular monthly meeting. The next Board of Education meeting scheduled is a business meeting on Thursday, October 18, 2018, in the Lincoln-Titus Elementary School at 7:30 pm.
Lakeland High School
Three Lakeland Central School District students have been named 2019 National Merit Scholarship Semifinalists. They are among 16,000 National Merit Scholarship Semifinalists nationwide. The scholarship organization announced the names recently in the 63rd annual National Merit Scholarship Program. The students named represent less than one percent of U.S. high school seniors. The semifinalists are: Lakeland High School are Alison D. Bretti and Jothi M. Ramaswamy. Walter Panas High School, the semifinalist is Riti Bhandarkar. They now have the opportunity to continue in the competition for some 7,500 National Merit Scholarships worth more than $32 million that will be offered next spring. About 90 percent of the Semifinalists are expected to attain Finalist standing, and about half of the Finalists will win a National Merit Scholarship, earning the Merit Scholar® title.
