New York State Education Law 2801-a  Amended

Effective July 1, 2019 New York State Education Law §2801-a was amended to require that every school district that employs or contracts with law enforcement or public or private security personnel, including through use of school resource officers, develop a written contract or memorandum of understanding (MOU) clearly delegating the role of school discipline to school administration. This is a copy of the law.

The Lakeland Central School District contracts with the Yorktown Police Department, The Westchester County Police Department, Briger Security Services, Inc. and Altaris Safety and Security Consulting Services for school security services.

We are required to seek input from all stakeholders regarding these contracts. Please forward your input regarding these agreements in writing to Dwayne Hoffrnann, Chief Emergency Officer Lakeland Central School District, 1086 East Main Street, Shrub Oak, NY 10588.  It must be received by no later than 5:00 p.m. on August 10, 2019.
