LCBMS Community Helps Area Families
The library office at the Beech looks like Santa's workshop lately, filled with boxes upon boxes of gifts wrapped in colorful holiday paper and tied with ribbon and bows. The school librarian, Colleen Browne, has been coordinating this gift drive for over ten years at Copper Beech, and it has grown bigger still in the last three years since 8th grade science teacher Jasper Fox stepped in to help as well. Each year, the Lakeland Copper Beech Middle School family comes together to make the holidays brighter for area families in need by collecting toys, clothes, and other items. complete article
As we all know, sitting down with family and friends for a delicious meal is one of the best parts of the holiday season. To help ensure that this happens for all of our families, Yorktown Police Officer Robert Pavletich, who has been Copper Beech’s SRO for the last four years, arranged for a generous $500 donation from the Yorktown PBA, giving each of our five families in need a $100 gift card to one of our local grocery stores for their holiday dinner.
This event is one that both teachers and staff look forward to every year and which provides joy and happiness during the holidays for our school community. We hope to continue this wonderful tradition for years to come.
