2020 Fall Sports - Will you be read for Tryouts
Parents and Guardians:
I want to provide an update to my communication from last week (8/28/20) regarding Fall Sports for the upcoming 2020-21 school year.

At this time, the Section I Executive Committee has approved the following:

The High School sports of cross country, field hockey, soccer and girl’s tennis are permitted to begin on Tuesday, September 29th. No open workouts or practices are authorized prior to this date.

The Section One Modified Committee will continue to meet to evaluate the status of modified sports.

As per DOH guidelines, the sports of volleyball, football and competitive cheer are classified as high risk at this time. Governor Cuomo has permitted high risk sports to practice, however, they are not authorized to compete until a later date, but no later than December 31, 2020. As a result of the information available to us at this time, the Section One Executive Committee has determined:

High risk fall sports and their ability to practice will be reviewed as soon as new information becomes available from NYPHSAA and state officials. Therefore, at this time football, volleyball and cheerleading will not begin practices or sports card registration until additional information is received.

Should a decision regarding competitions for high risk sports (volleyball, football and competitive cheer) not be announced by state officials, Section One will consider moving to a condensed season model to afford the ability for those high risk sports to have competitions.

While swimming is categorized as a “low-moderate” risk sport, Section One continues to gather data pertaining to the pool/facility availability throughout the region. Section One may have to consider postponing girls swimming to another season. Therefore, like football, volleyball and cheerleading, girls swimming will not begin practices or sports card registration until additional information becomes available.

Sports card registration for the fall sports of boys soccer, girls soccer, field hockey, cross country and girls tennis will open on our district webpage beginning on Wednesday, September 9th. The sports card registration period will close on Monday, September 21st at 3:00PM. Please see attached flier for specific information regarding sports card registration for boys soccer, girls soccer, field hockey, cross country and girls tennis. NOTE: when additional information is received regarding the status of football, volleyball, cheerleading and girls swimming, sports card registration dates will be communicated for those sports.

I am truly looking forward to the time of our student-athletes being back competing and representing our community.
