LHS Students Graduate from Yorktown Youth Court Training
Lakeland students are among those who graduated on February 8th from the Yorktown Youth Court 6 week training program. This was sponsored by the Alliance for Safe Kids and students learned the roles of judge, defense attorney, and prosecutor. The culminating exercise had them sentencing a (mythical)young man to 35 hours of community service for having broken into Yorktown High School, damaging property and stealing $150 from a teacher's desk. Schools Closed for Mid-Winter Recess
Lakeland Central School District schools will be closed for mid-winter recess from Friday, February 17, 2012 to Monday, February 20, 2012. Schools will open on Tuesday, February 21, 2012. The administration building will be closed on Monday, February 20, 2012.

Board of Education Meeting, Thursday, February 16th
The Board of Education will hold its regular business meeting on Thursday, February 16, 2012 at 7:30 p.m. in the Benjamin Franklin Elementary School, 3477 Kamhi Drive, Yorktown Heights. The meeting is open to the public and there two opportunities for public comment. Go to the public comment guidelines. The next BOE budget meeting/work session will be held on Thursday, March 1, 2012 at 7:00 p.m. in the Administration Building.

Board of Education Budget Meeting/Work Session Thursday, February 2nd
The Lakeland Central School District Board of Education will hold its next budget meeting/work session on Thursday, February 2, 2012 at 7:00 p.m. in the Administration Building, 1086 East Main Street, Shrub Oak, NY. This will be the second of four budget meetings to be held from January through April. Students Sign Letter of Intent
Two LHS seniors signed Letters of Intent on February 1st for field hockey. Emma Bozek will attend the University of North Carolina and Shannon Scavelli will attend the University of Michigan. Cady Langdon signed her Letter of Intent as well to play soccer for Lynn College in Florida. Congratulations ladies!

How to subscribe to RSS Feeds:

In order to subscribe to an RSS feed you will need two things, an RSS reader (also known as a news aggregator) and url (web address) of the RSS feed that you wish to subscribe.

» Download and Install a News Aggregator / RSS Reader - or use a RSS-enabled browser.

» Locate the web address (url) of the RSS feed (XML file) that you wish to subscribe - usually you can just click on the orange XML or RSS button.

» Many of the news readers will allow you to set the interval that the software will look for a feed update others simply update daily.

» The information in the feed will be updated when the feed contains new content.

You can choose to subscribe to the entire site RSS feed (ALL Feeds), or an individual feed found on each tab.

A news aggregator or RSS reader is a software application that collects and displays news headlines and summaries from sources that you have designated. An RSS feed is an XML document that contains the news headlines and summaries.
