Colonial Men
Colonial Men
Here come the colonial men in their clothing. The men in colonial times would usually wear breeches, tricorn hats, stockings, and shoes with metal buckles, undergarments, waistcoats, and kerchiefs. They also wore heavy coats. Some of the men wore wigs if they were wealthy. They would lose their hair from lice because they didn’t wash it.

Did you know no part of a man’s body could be showing or he would be considered naked? This is why they always wore breeches, stockings, and heavy coats. The consequence of having a body part showing was being put in the stocks for public humiliation.

Men only owned 2-4 outfits. The men’s shirt would also be used as a night coat or gown. Their cloths would be made of wool or linen and some shirts would contain ruffles on the neck and sleeves. Men would wear their shirt night and day. (sometimes for weeks) The men wore big socks so they wouldn’t expose any part of their legs.

Colonial Men
There was no right or left shoe. To make a right and left shoe they had to use the same shoe until it was molded in. Their black hat was usually made of felt or the undercoat of a beaver.
