When the Allies attacked the Axis they had to come from the ocean onto land. That is why amphibious vehicles were so important during this war. An amphibious vehicle can travel on water and on land. The Allies were able to use them to bring all their supplies from their huge ships onto the land while they were being shot at. The battles of Normandy (known as D-Day) and Iwo Jima were two of the most important battles in this war where amphibious vehicles were used. The US Navy, US Army, and the US Marine Corps used thousands of amphibious vehicles in many other battles to help the Allies win the war. World War Two Challenge
