Student Roles

Below are the student roles and their responsibilities

Researcher

Ÿ conducts research on a wing or room topic

Ÿ uses the Internet, encyclopedias, reference books, magazines and newspapers

Ÿ documents sources

Ÿ works closely with writer/editor

Artist

Ÿ creates artwork to be displayed

Ÿ researches and writes about artwork

Ÿ works with art teacher and photographer

Curator

Ÿ manages museum

Ÿ coordinates museum staff

Ÿ determines museum quality

Administrator

Ÿ collects, organizes, files, and distributes materials

Ÿ works closely with the museum staff

Writer and Editor

Ÿ creates text to accompany artifacts and wing/room topics

Ÿ proofreads and edits text

Ÿ works closely with the curator, researcher, exhibition designer, and administrator

Exhibition Designer

Ÿ collects and organizes images from the Internet

Ÿ gains permission to use images

Ÿ works closely with curator, writer, museum architect, and webmaster

Museum Webmaster

Ÿ responsible for the quality of site design and content

Ÿ works with museum architects to develop and create web site

Ÿ has knowledge of or is willing to learn web authoring and image editing software

Ÿ works closely with board, curator, architect and designer

Museum Architect

Ÿ develops the museum’s layout and structure

Ÿ creates web site using web authoring software

Ÿ has knowledge of or is willing to learn web authoring and image editing software

Ÿ works closely with curator, exhibition designer, and webmaster

Ÿ photographs artwork

Ÿ documents the project’s process through photographs and text

Ÿ has knowledge of or is willing to learn the digital camera and related software

Ÿ works closely with art teacher, curator, and webmaster

Public Relations Department

Ÿ interviews school district public relations employee

Ÿ responsible for promoting virtual museum through local newspapers, district and school websites, district and school newsletters, and posters

Ÿ creates and distributes invitations and necessary materials for assembly

Docent

Ÿ plans and organizes the assembly

Ÿ presents the virtual museum to an audience

Ÿ works closely with curator
