The
Coelacanth |

|
When
we were playing a fishing video game and caught a fish named a Coelacanth,
the game told us some facts about the Coelacanth. We thought it was a
very interesting fish so we decided to make a website to share information
about this fascinating prehistoric fossil fish. We hope you enjoy our
website! Coelacanth (see-la-can- th) is a prehistoric fish that is still alive today. Most of the Coelacanth’s environment is in undersea caves, up to 700 feet below sea level in the Indian Ocean. A Coelacanth looks like an eel with many fins and colors. A Coelacanth caught in 1960 was gigantic! It was almost 70 inches in length. The life span of a Coelacanth is over 400,000,000 years long! Coelacanth eat lantern fishes, stout beard fishes, cardinal fishes, cuttle fishes, deep water snappers, squids, deep sea witch eels, snipe eels, and swell sharks. |
