Dear Lincoln-Titus Families:
As April fades, a few reflections and congratulations……………..Our
DI Team—Down, Down Underground won Third Place in Binghamton; to all students
and coaches
CONGRATULATIONS!
Annie Get Your Gun
was a huge success, the cast was wonderful. To all the adults who helped
provide a wonderful opportunity for the students and families—thank
you!
Our students have had various opportunities to show off their many wonderful
talents; we had a few third graders win poetry awards, our fifth graders drew
for the Google Doodle Contest, a few were selected to enter the national contest,
and samples of art from all grades have been showcased this month at the Peekskill
Coffee House.
In addition, April provided our 5th graders with the opportunity to play
against BFES 5th graders in basketball, our 2nd graders had Seed to Feed,
K-4 Square
danced (thank you, Mr. Calidonna), K-5 shared in Pajama-rama-Read-o-rama
Day (way to go Mrs. Canini), and lastly K-5 enjoyed Everybody is a Reader
Day (Mrs.
Peters—what a great selection of readers—thanks!).
We head into May with On-the-Go Day (1st Gr.), and a 5th grade rematch in
basketball against BFES. A number of trips are planned— Paramount Theatre /Applebee’s
(K gr.), RESCO (2nd gr.), Little Red School House /Museum Village (4th gr.),
Rochambeau Theatre/Katonah Museum (3rd gr.) and MOMA (5th gr.). Our second grade
will be busy turning the classroom into a factory, get ready for popping because
here comes the POPCORN FACTORY. We continue with our Spirit Days selected by
our Student Council—Career Day (dress up for your future career) and Holiday
Dress (select your favorite holiday and celebrate with appropriate dressing).
To continue to build our students’ knowledge of health and wellness—Mr.
SlimGoodbody will be visiting.
The fifth grade will begin their transition to middle school by taking a
tour of the school. That evening Dr. Sagan will be at the middle school for
your
child to take you on a tour and show you what they learned about the building
and program.
This month Dr. Sagan will also come to LT and talk to the fifth grade about
the upper level Learning Style Survey which they will take to help the middle
school
staff know each student’s learning styles. We at LT will also be administering
the lower level survey to the second graders to allow our third grade teachers
the opportunity to have their student profiles in September.
Lastly, the elementary school students grades 1-5 will have a new report card
next year. An overview of the new report card was done by Ms. Gagliardi at a
PTA meeting. You will find a pod cast regarding the new
report card on the Thomas Jefferson webpage. Please view to learn more about
the new report card grades 1-5 for 2008-2009 school year.
