The Iroquois depended on the natural resources around them for their basic needs. Food was gathered and hunted throughout the forest and fished in nearby lakes and streams. Women farmed the Three Sisters (beans, corn and squash) in open clearings. This picture shows Iroquois women grinding corn or dried berries. |
