Immigration collage created by Mrs. Seeger's class
During the late 1800s and into the 1900s, people from many countries took the long and hard voyage to start a new life in America. These brave people who left their country to live in America were called immigrants. We wrote about immigrants from Ireland, Italy, Germany, and Russia. Why did so many people leave? They left for many reasons such as: their land became hard to own; machines were now doing their farm jobs; they wanted to practice their religious and political beliefs without fear; and they wanted to be able to live a better life.
