| Many recreational activities
of the Ancient Egyptians were painted on their tomb walls.
All Egyptians enjoyed
singing and making music. They would chant when working in the fields,
or worshipping in temples. They also sang in times of funerals, when tending
sheep, and at banquets. Banquet songs reminded everyone of how good life
was. Some of their musical instruments were flutes, pipes,
rattles, cymbals, and drums.
Some of their favorite
pastimes were fishing, river boat outings, swimming and hunting crocodiles
and/or hippopotamus along the Nile River.
Also, the upper class
loved to give lavish parties where music, food, and drink were in abundance.
Festivals usually were holidays to honor the gods. |
