of the world's first civilizations. It began over 5,000 years ago
and lasted for 3,000 years. Egypt was known as "the
land of many gods". Egyptian kings were called pharaohs.
They had absolute power over all of Egypt. They commanded the building
of huge pyramids, temples, palaces, and sphinxes
that are still standing today.
The Egyptians had a lot
of knowledge in all areas. Their knowledge of farming, math, and
keeping track of the days, helped them to develop a calendar.
Numerous contributions were made in the areas of medicine, writing,
irrigation, and architecture. |
