Class of 2008 plans and implements fundraising, entertainment and
activities for the Class of 2008 while promoting leadership and
school spirit. All students wanting to have some control in their
class are welcome. There are elected and non-elected positions. |

Class of 2011 plans to have several fundraising events this year.
Plans include a Penny Social in November as well as an upcoming
tag sale. These will enable us to fund ongoing entertainment and
other activities for the spirited Class of 2011! |

and awareness in our daily lives. |

Campaigns
for internationally recognized human rights. The Lakeland chapter
focuses on mobilizing the student body to reach out through practical
means. Amnesty Inernational has assigned LHS the Stop Violence Against
Women Campaign. LHS has also been assigned a Belarusian prisoner
of conscience, Yuri Bandezhevsky. The goal is to ensure his safety
and assist him in obtaining justice. |

Designed
to formalize the competitive element of the Lakeland District Debate
program, students are expected to meet the schedule of coaching
and training session set in a calendar of monthly events.
Meetings and practices are generally scheduled after school, twice
each week, depending on the students specific level of experience. |

FBLA
is a nonprofit education association of students preparing for careers
in business and business-related fields. Its mission is to bring
business and education together in a positive working relationship
through innovative leadership and career development programs. The
Lakeland High School Chapter has competed on the state and national
levels with great success. Activities sponsored by FBLA include
Donkey Basketball, Data Match and selling items at other school
activities. |

purpose of the French Club is to enrich students' awareness of French
culture through movies, cooking, Mardi Gras and Cafe Noel. |

Alliance (GSA) |

GSA
develops understanding among students through education and helps
promote a safe environment for all students. |

The
G.O. is responsible for supervising school-wide activities such
as homecoming, elections and blood drives. You must be elected to
this position in your Senior year. |

supportive and harmonious community of guitar and bass players of
all levels and styles that meets alternate Thursdays. Students share
ideas, songs, and techniques. Emphasis is on improvising and making
music together!

tests with students from other schools throughout Westchester and
Putnam counties. |

(Students for Environmental Action) |

Students
explore their own interests in many environmental issues including,
endangered species, pollution and conservation. The club focuses
on education, action and fund-raising. Our goal is to educate the
community and school on issues that affect us all. |

Heads is a political discussion group that allows both students
and teachers to exchange ideas and opinions freely. The group mainly
focuses on politics but it also discusses social, economic and ethical
topics. Talking Heads meets every Wednesday at 2:30 in room 211.

Ultimate Frisbee is a non contact, fast-paced field sport played

students how to read weather maps and data. Students forecast the
daily weather and try to understand how weather changes using local

9-12. It gives opportunity to perform on stage and back stage for
