Search Page for Kids

If you are looking for information, it's a good idea to start with a book!
Your Librarian should be able to help you find a good one.

When doing research online, it's NOT best to start with Google. While Google is an excellent search engine, it finds too many resources for you and sometimes the ones that "come to the top" are not the best resources. Sometimes, the sites that come to the top are there because the company PAID to have their page come up first. So, when searching the Internet, start with these general search sites:

  • Sweet Search is a search engine for students. Every site has been evaluated by their experts.
  • KidsClick! is a database of over 6400 sites that are compiled by librarians and they are sorted by reading level.
  • KidSearch uses Google's strict Safe Search algorithms to block adult websites from search results
  • CyberSleuth Kids is a search guide for K - 12 students.
  • Fact Monster is a kids' reference website brought to you by the editors at Information Please.
Here are some specialized pages that will help you in different areas:

  • Word Central is an online dictionary for kids.
  • One Look is another online dictionary.
  • First Gov for Kids is the official government website for kids that links to many useful resources.
  • Time for Kids lets you get the latest news from around the world for kids in grades K - 6.
