How to Apply - Certified

How to apply for a Certified Administrative or Certified Teaching Position in the Lakeland Central School District.

Step 1—Application:
Individuals seeking employment for certified positions (full-time or part-time) at Lakeland must use the Online Application System (OLAS) to apply.

Step 2—Screening:
All applications submitted to the OLAS are reviewed to determine if the applicant meets the credential requirements for the designated position. Applications from the OLAS are then reviewed to determine the most suitable candidates for the current and anticipated vacancies.

Step 3—Interviews:
Interviews are scheduled for applicants whose qualifications make them the most suitable for the position. Candidates may be interviewed by committee. Finalists’ references are verified prior to a recommendation to the Superintendent.

Step 4—Appointment:
Appointment to a position is made after a candidate has accepted an offer and is contingent upon background clearance by New York State Department of Education. When an offer of employment is made, a tentative salary placement is determined based on available information from the applicant. Staff is employed by official action of the Lakeland Board of Education upon recommendation of the Superintendent.

Step 5—Orientation:
New full-time hires are provided a packet of information regarding medical enrollment, health plans, and other items related to the employee beginning work.
