WORD WORK
Spelling Our spelling program incorporates the use of the Steck Vaughn Spelling Workbook. The philosophy behind the text is for students to learn to spell common spelling patterns, high-frequency words and troublesome words. The program also focuses on strategies related to sounds and patterns. This helps the students learn decoding skills which will ensure comprehension. The lessons help the students connect spelling and meaning. Phonics This year we are incorporating a phonics program published by the McGraw-Hill Wright Group. This program is research-based. The instructional strategies are interactive and begin in context. Phonics is an extremely important component of our literacy program.
