Science         

Unit 1 - Tools and Measurements will be studied in the fall. In this unit the students will become familiar with the tools of measurement.They will be learning about standard and nonstandard units of measurement in the areas of length, weight, volume and temperature.

Unit 2 - Energy will be our next area of study. In this unit the children will be exploring many different types of energy such as sound, light, heat, magnetic, electrical, chemical etc.

Unit 3 - In the spring we study Living Things. This unit incorporates an overview of the plant life cycle followed by an intensive study of crayfish.

Unit 4 - Throughout the year we will be making observations of Seasonal Changes. This will include the study of a class tree, charting the weather of each season, observing sunrise and sunset times, and taking notice of our seasonal clothing. Each class partners with another 2nd grade class in the world and we compare our data.
