Blind people now have two animals to help them get around: the usual guide dog and now the unusual miniature horse.

Mini horses are like guide dogs, except better for some people in some ways. People who are allergic to dogs or people who are afraid of dogs can get a mini horse instead. Since it is an outside animal, people who don’t like to care for indoor animals are perfect to receive mini horses. The mini horse has a very good memory and is very smart. The mini horse also lives longer than the average pet. Mini horses are extremely calm in dangerous situations. They have great vision and they can even see well in nearly total darkness. They are very obedient and sit quietly when off duty, and people or events do not distract them. They also have great stamina. They can easily run or walk for many miles. They are constantly on the lookout for danger and take the safest and most efficient route. They also are very good at dodging obstacles.

When the horses first comes to the trainers, they are very wild. It takes a while for the horses to understand that the humans wish it no harm. The trainers spend a lot of time rubbing and scratching the horses. Then they teach them how to nudge in one direction and then another. The person who will be receiving the guide horse must also have training that can take up to two weeks.
