On the trip to Guiding Eyes for the Blind, we met a person named Becky. She was our guide. She showed us a lot of different places. She showed us the kitchen, the computer room, the graduation room and the dining room. In the kitchen, there were a lot of nice people. Becky also showed us this place that looked like a small hotel. It had ten rooms. In the computer room, there was a talking computer. Two people were in the room. In the graduation room, there were a lot of couches and chairs. There was also a piano with a stuffed black lab on it. Next to the piano was a stuffed golden retriever. People use the stuffed animal for practice putting a harness on a guide dog. One of them was blind. The dining room was kind of like a hotel’s dining room, except that it was a lot smaller. Later, someone came to show us the kennels. Inside were almost 200 dogs! They were all in cages. When we put our hands near a cage, the dogs would lick our hands, put their paws on our hands or do both. On the cages were dots. The color of the dots indicated how much food the dog could eat. Next to the dots were their names. The tour guide remembered almost all of the dog’s names! Inside of the dogs’ skins were microchips with 4 numbers on it to keep track of their names.
