Dear
Parents/Guardians and Students,
We
are off to a great start! Our Citizen of the Month assemblies,
held in September honored responsible citizens,
academic achievers, and heroes/heroines. Each month we will focus
on a different character education topic and students will have
the opportunity to be recognized for their efforts at the assembly
program. We thank our parent volunteers from the PTA who help
us at each assembly. Next month we are focusing on: “Demonstrating
a Sense of Fair Play.” The teachers will be having conversations
about the topic and we encourage you to do so at home as well.
During the year please visit our web site @ www.lakelandschools.org and view school news, calendars, grade level information, monthly
newsletters and much more. In addition you will receive a quarterly
school newspaper that will accompany report cards. Daily messages,
bus information and special recognition can also be seen on entry
hallway bulletin boards.
We
hope that you will join us at our first Parent Place meeting
on October 3 @ 9:00 a.m. Remember, free babysitting
is available. The topic will be “Turning Bullies into
Buddies.” Note: on Friday, October 12th – students
will be dismissed at 2:20 p.m. (arriving home approximately
15 minutes earlier) for the Annual Emergency Management Plan
Drill.
Please be advised that interim reports will be sent home this
year to only those students who are displaying academic or behavioral
difficulties in school. At that time, conferences may be requested
by parents or teachers to facilitate a plan to achieve school
success.
Our
fall studies are beginning throughout the building. We will
hold
a “TRUNK OR TREAT” event on October 31st. In
conjunction with the PTA we are asking for parent volunteers
to bring “goodies” to fill our trunks and students
have been scheduled to visit the trunks by class. We encourage
you to bring donations to the office such as: candy, erasers,
pencils, stickers, and pens. If you have another suggestion please
call the school and let us know what goody you would like to
bring. We thank you in advance. Please, no costumes
at school.
We realize that the most successful students are a product of
the home-school connection. We count on your partnership and
support in providing the best education. Thank you for your support
in kicking off the new school year.
Sincerely,
Jacqueline
