Dear
Parents/Guardians and Students,
Although we have had a very mild winter up until
this point, March may come in like a lion. Since March can
be very unpredictable, please remember to dress your child
appropriately. We make every attempt to have outdoor recess
whenever it is possible.
March is going to be a very busy month. During the week of
March 5th, the New York State Math Assessments will be administered.
If you have a 3rd, 4th or 5th grader please make sure that
your child arrives to school on time, healthy and with a well-balanced
meal.
Van Cortlandtville brings back, by popular demand, the Parent
Place workshop on sibling rivalry presented by Phyllis Elliott
on Wednesday, March 7th, at 9:00 a.m.
The annual “Open Houses” will be held during the
week of March 19th, and we are celebrating VCES Young Scientists.
The school will be open on March 20th for Grades K-2 and March
22nd for Grades 3 –5. Please visit the wonderful science
projects displayed throughout the building and enjoy the PTA
family science night on March 21st.
We continue to promote a bully free environment at Van Cortlandtville.
We ask that you speak to your children about bullying and how
to seek help in the event that they find themselves in an intimidating
situation. Our school social worker and psychologist will also
be working with the fifth grade students to seek their help
in promoting a bully free environment.
On the
16th of March you can expect to see your child’s
interim report come home. Interim reports are designed to give
you a preview of your child’s progress. Please feel free
to call your child’s teacher with any questions or concerns.
Our goal is to keep open the lines of communication.
We look forward to seeing you throughout the month. As always,
if you have any questions or concerns, please contact us.
Sincerely,
Jacqueline
