January
2, 2008
Dear
Parents/Guardians and Students,
Happy New Year! Can you believe it is 2008? This
year we will learn new things, take new adventures and achieve
many goals together.
In
early January, our 3rd, 4th, 5thgraders will take the New
York State
ELA. Students will continue to work hard and prepare
in their classes. The exam dates are January 7-11th. Please have
students get a good night’s sleep and eat a good breakfast
each day.
Don’t miss our Parent Place on January 9th @ 9:00 am.
The topic is “Sibling Rivalry,” presented by Phyllis
Elliot, LCSW. We will have great information for you! Remember
free breakfast and babysitting is available. See you there!
This
month our theme is “Having a positive influence on
your peers.” We will discuss this character education topic
in classes and throughout the building all month. We will also
study about Dr. Martin Luther King who has had a positive influence
on his peers as well as on all who study his great work.
The
5th grade will close the month with the annual “Governmental
Tea.” On the 17th, the fifth grade will assume the roles
of dignitaries and come together with parent guests for a wonderful
learning experience. Special guest dignitaries will also visit
with our students during this wonderful event.
As the winter brings cold weather we ask that students be sure
to come to school appropriately dressed. We will continue to
go out and enjoy the fresh air as often as we can.
Let’s
bring in the New Year with excitement and enthusiasm.
Sincerely,
Jacqueline
