September 2007
Dear Thomas Jefferson Students and Parents/Guardians: I surely hope you found your summer to be relaxing, reenergizing and enjoyable. This summer at TJ we have been busy preparing for another successful and exciting school year. One noticeable nuance is the fresh coat of paint and outdoor landscaping our building received. In addition to sprucing up the environment, as many of you are aware we have opened another section of first grade. Joining the TJ teaching staff is Mr. John DeLuca. He has served as a leave replacement in Lakeland and brings his enthusiasm and solid knowledge base to our team. Enclosed in your earlier mailings was a Technology packet and KI information. Please make certain all forms are completed and returned to us. When you receive the Thomas Jefferson Student handbook please take the time to review it with your child, then sign and return the signature page by September 17th. The Handbook is full of detailed information and important updates. Once again we look forward to the New Parent Coffee on September 7th and Meet the Teacher Nights: September 18 Kindergarten through Second Grade and September 19 Grades Three through Five. Both evenings begin at 6:30 pm through 7:30 pm. We are very excited to begin infusing Learning Styles this year. This District initiative will be making its way throughout the grades. Teachers will begin to implement these teaching strategies over time. At the elementary level students in grades 3, 4, and 5 will be equipped with the their own learning style profile. Teachers will be supporting practices to meet needs. Detailed information will follow. We look forward to supporting these initiatives. The home-school relationship is important to maintain. The foundation of this
relationship is paramount and keeping those lines of communication open is
essential. The use of Edline, email, notes, and phone calls are welcomed and
encouraged throughout the year. Edline codes will be available on Meet the
Teacher Nights and in the office as needed. Also, Parent/Teachers Conferences
will be held on November 13th. I look forward to a working partnership and a successful year: Together for Children. Best regards, Ms. Gagliardi |
