Thomas Jefferson Elementary School

Internet resources for T.J. students

Depending on your needs, you may want to:

go to a curriculum related site (such as History or Science, using the hypertext links on the library home page)
use a search engine
browse through a directory that has links to many different areas of interest
use standard on-line resources such as encyclopedias

link to the NOVEL databases available from New York State

look at the Lakeland Bibliography example and style sheet.

Since Ms. Griffin has selected these sites you can probably be assured that they are current and have correct information. However, you must evaluate the information you find for yourself! A web site can change after I have evaluated it.

Search engines

A search engine is a software program. You can use this tool to search the internet using key words and phrases. Plan your search ahead of time by brainstorming words that are likely to get you the information that you need. Each search engine may use its' own rules for searching. Use their help menu for directions. As a general rule, you may use Boolean logic (and, or, not) which we have gone over in class as well as quotation marks around phrases or names.
