How does Boolean logic work?
- AND is used to combine terms.
It will narrow down your search.
For example:
using the terms cats and pets will get you results that show links to sites
with
just cats that are pets, and will not include wild cats.
- OR broadens your search. For
example: using the terms "westward expansion" or "the oregon
trail" will get results that have to do with moving westward in America
without limiting you to just the Oregon Trail experience.
- NOT will narrow your search.
For example: using the terms "Erie Canal" not "Lake Erie"
not "Erie, Pennsylvania" will get you just information on the Erie
Canal. This kind of search means that you are familiar with some terms that
will come up if you don't knock them out of the search using not.
