1. Look at the artwork of French artists Henri Matisse and Claude Monet.  Create a painting that is either
a.   In the style of Monet, using a subject by Matisse
 OR
b.  In the style of Matisse, using a subject by Monet.

When you have finished your artwork, explain what you have done and whether it is a or b.

2. Study several artworks by Pablo Picasso and his contemporary, Henri Matisse. Using the compare and contrast sheet provided,
a. Choose a favorite work by each artist.
b. Make lists of what you see in each artwork.
c. What, if anything, do the two artworks have in common?
d. How are the artworks different?

3. Georgia O'Keeffe typically did  "zoom lens"  paintings of subjects in nature.  Choose a favorite object to do your own  "zoom lens"  artwork.
Write a paragraph about your artwork, being sure to explain what art elements and principles can be observed in your work.
Note:
Elements--Line, Shape/Form, Value, Color, Space, Texture
Principles--Balance, Unity and Variety, Emphasis or Contrast, Rhythm and Movement,      Pattern, Proportion

4. Look at examples of architecture and architectural details.  Create a drawing of the facade (front) of a building.  List the Architectural details you have included in your drawing. (such as clapboard, shingles, dentil moulding, etc.)

5. Create a portrait or self-portrait in the style of a favorite Renaissance artist.  In a paragraph or two, explain what makes your portrait like those of Renaissance artists.
