O"Keeffe in considered a Modern Artist because she painted in the 20th century.
She used nature as inspiration for her simplified, abstract shapes.

Many other artists are interested in nature.
A painting of the outdoors (nature) is called a landscape.

The Impressionists were not interested in a highly realistic, or photographic, rendering of their subjects.
The Impressionists were interested in creating artworks which showed  the light, air and colors of the day.
