The story
or topic is appealing.
The text
is readable. The print isn't too small or close together.
There is
appropriate picture support.
There are
no more than 5 tricky words on a page.
There should
be some words to work on. If everything is easy to read, try another book.
I can understand
what the story or text is about.
I can
retell what
I have read.
