1. Books read by your child should be easy.
2. Give your child a few seconds to figure out new words.
3. Encourage the use of:
Meaning (Does it make sense?)
Structure (Do we say it that way?)
Letters/Clusters (Does
it look right?)
to figure out words.
4. If your child can not figure out a word, tell him/her.
