7TH GRADE LIFE SCIENCE MISSION STATEMENT

The purpose of the seventh grade Life Science program is to spark student interest in the field of Science. This course is designed to promote hands-on-learning experiences that will encourage students to become critical thinkers. In addition, this course will prepare students to meet New York State standards.

Mr. B.'s Declaration of Interdependence and Responsibility:
Creating a calm, cool and collected classroom community contract.

I, the undersigned, pledge to make every effort to uphold the following declaration. I know that I am a very important part of this classroom community and I understand that my attitude and efforts (or lack of effort) affect my success in this class, as well as, the success of my classmates. I am aware that creating a calm, cool, and collected classroom community requires a team effort and I promise to do my part when working with my classmates and teachers to achieve this goal. I promise to exercise self-control and self-discipline to ensure the academic and social success of every student in this class. I know I can discuss any concerns with my teachers, and with their assistance overcome obstacles that come up throughout the school year. I will do my very best to come to class prepared to work and contribute toward creating a calm, cool, and collected classroom community.

The following guidelines will be considered when
Mr. B. calcuates grade point averages.

Quizzes = 20% of student's grade
Tests and Projects = 30% of student's grade
Homework = 25% of student's grade
Lab. Activities and Classwork = 25% of student's grade
     (includes coming to class prepared and on time, notebook
          organization, and participation)

Mr. B.'s Lab. Report Format and Sections

  Heading/Cover page (5pts)
  Question  (10pts)
  Hypothesis (10pts)
  Materials (5pts)
  Procedures (10pts)
  Data/Observations (15pts)
  Results (15pts)
  Conclusion (30pts)

Mr. B.'s Homework Policy
check plus  (very good) = complete, correct, on time, and neat.
check (acceptable) = mostly complete (good effort), on time, and mostly neat.
check minus (poor)  = incomplete (poor effort), late without a note, and  legible.
X (not acceptable) = no effort, more than 2 days late, didn't follow directions, illegible.
R = one day extension to redo assignment (replaced with a check or check minus). If not redone R is replaced with X.

The number of completed assignments will be divided by the total # of assignments given for that quarter. That percentage is then multiplied by 0.25 (25% of quarter grade) resulting in the number of points contributing to the quarter grade.
