Requirements for induction into the National Junior Honor Society at LCBMS:

Candidates must have a cumulative average of at least 92% for 7th grade
and the for the first three quarters of 8th grade.
Candidates must have at least ten points of service.
- You must have 1-4 points from Category One: School Sponsored Sports or Clubs. Three hours of participation in the same activity will earn one point.
- You must have at least one point from Category Two: Service to School. Students should seek their own service opportunities by asking teachers if they need help. Three hours of any school service will earn one point.
- You may have additional points from Community Service (two points per
  approved organization). To avoid problems, please see the advisor of NJHS on your volunteer work.
Candidates must submit a personal statement to the committee.

Candidates who have received an in-school or an out-of-school suspension are not
eligible.
Candidates may not have more than five lunch detentions and/or three after school detentions.
Candidates must be approved by a faculty committee.

Your personal essay and all service points are due on Wednesday, April 30, 2008.
No paperwork will be accepted after 3:35 PM on April 30, 2008.
THERE WILL BE NO EXCEPTIONS TO THIS DATE.

Candidates will be notified of their acceptance by mail in June.

2007 - 2008 School Year Meetings Schedule:

Meetings will be in Cafeteria A, 3:35 – 4:30, on the following dates:

· Monday, September 24	· Tuesday, February 26
· Tuesday, October 30	· Wednesday, March 19
· Thursday, November 29	· Thursday, April 10
· Wednesday, December 19	· Tuesday, April 29
· Monday, January 28

· It is expected that NJHS candidates attend all meetings. If a student is unable to attend the meeting, please let Ms. Bernstein know by e-mail or a message with the Main Office secretaries.
· Please do not interrupt Ms. Bernstein's classes to let her know you will not attend the meeting.
