Mission Statement: The
I.
Course Title: Course A Math Honors
II.
Course Description: The principal strand of this
course is algebra. The algebra will
extend to factorable quadratic equations and systems of equations, while
integrating with graphing,
simple geometry, and
statistics. The students will take the
eighth grade state assessment in March and also will be required to take the
Math A Regents examination, which will be given in
January of the second year of this program.
III.
Course Goals: Prepare students for the New
York State Math 8 Assessment. Start to
prepare students for the New York State Math A Regents
in January of their freshman year at the high school.

Class Preparation: Students are to come to class
prepared with their notebooks, calculators, writing utensils, homework and all
other materials required by teacher.
Students are to arrive on time and be ready to learn.
VIII.
Homework Policy: The completion of homework is a
very important part of establishing good and consistent study habits. Homework provides the practice that is needed
to be successful in mathematics.
a. Homework must be turned in
on time. If a student is absent, all missed
notes, assignments and tests must be made up as soon as possible.
b. If steps are required to
obtain the solution to a problem, they must be written out neatly.
