Read to Them is the non-profit organization that works to promote family literacy. Their mission "is to create a culture of literacy in every home." They do this by assisting schools in implementing One School, One Book programs.
Through the One School, One Book program, families and school faculty received a copy of a book, this year's book was Charlotte's Web by E.B. White. When the school received the books, they were distributed, along with a calendar of reading and recording form. Together, as a TJ community, we read aloud Charlotte's Web at home. Research shows the complex and permanent effects being read aloud has on children, even children who can fluently read.
