Here we are, gathered around our tree in February.

Our tree is one of the biggest trees on the school property. Once the tree had many leaves, now there are only a few leaves hanging on. We noticed that on the many branches of the tree, buds are starting to bloom.

And here we are gathered around our tree in April.

This is our tree in Spring. As you can see it is a big oak tree. The tree still has some buds that have not bloomed. Our tree has many leaves that have been eaten by caterpillars.

 Observations About Our Winter Tree

Joshua noticed that a squirrel had made his home in "our" tree.
Matthew thought that he noticed fungus on the tree.
Stephanie thinks the word fungus is very funny.
Jared thinks that moss was growing on the far side of the tree.
Kristin said that the bark of the tree was rough when she touched it.
Brianna thinks that before long the buds on the trees will turn to leaves.
Matthew thinks that as the tree comes to life once more, animals, mostly birds, will make their home in the tree.

 Observations About Our Spring Tree

Matthew noticed that there is poison ivy growing on the backside of the tree. We also noticed that there were some caterpillar nests in the tree. We are hoping that they do not destroy the tree.

Eric said that he would like to bring his book outside and sit under this great tree on a hot day.
