Have you ever read a work of fiction and wondered how authors think of their settings, characters, and events?
Good readers often make text-to-self connections when they personally relate to something they read. Authors also make text-to-self connections when they write. Sometimes ideas are derived from the authors’ personal experiences, which are then included in their stories.
In this project you will listen to excerpts from a story, excerpts from
a biography, and excerpts from interviews with the author. After listening
to both selections
you will take the information that you learned about where the author got
his/her ideas and you will answer the question, “How are authors’ real
life connections reflected in their fictional writings?”
