Students learn much through the study of fables. In this project, students will read a variety of fables and will be able to discuss the question, "How do fables help us learn lessons about life?"

Students will:

  • Understand the elements of a fable
  • Know what a moral is
  • Identify the moral in a fable
  • Write their own fable with a moral

There are five modern fables linked through this website. These fables are to be read as a shared reading activity, using a large screen computer if available.

This project was developed by third grade teachers in the Lakeland Central School District to provide students with an opportunity to engage in an English Language Arts activity while incorporating a technology component.

The project was developed by Linda Brandon, Instructional Technology Staff Development Coordinator and teachers Eileen Lynch (Lincoln Titus Elementary School), Michelle Poandl (Thomas Jefferson Elementary School), and Rob Janowitz (Van Cortlandtville Elementary School).
