Registration Information

Adults age 18 and over are welcome to register for classes. You do not have to be a resident of the Lakeland Central School District.

Registration begins as soon as the brochures are distributed.  You may register by mail or in person at the District Office.  We encourage registration by mail to ensure a place in your desired course.  Your cooperation in registering for all classes by the deadline, regardless of the start date, is greatly appreciated.  Courses will not run if there is insufficient registration. You are enrolled as soon as we receive your registration form and fee and confirmation including room assignments will be mailed to you.  Each semester we offer in-person evening registration at the District Office (dates are available in the catalog) in addition to regular business hours: Monday thru Friday, between 8:00 a.m. and 4:30 p.m.

Cancellations

If a course is cancelled due to insufficient registration, you will be notified as soon as possible and your fee refunded.
Closings due to weather or other emergencies will be announced on radio stations WVIP (1310 AM, 106.3 FM), WHUD (100.7 FM) and WLNA (1420 AM).  Classes will be made up as calendar permits – your instructor will notify you of rescheduled dates.
Your instructor will notify you of any building activities that will cause classes to be cancelled and when the class will be rescheduled.

Fees

Payment for registration fees is due at the time of registration – cash, check or money order – we do not accept credit cards.  Please make check(s) payable to: LAKELAND CONTINUING EDUCATION.  Instructors are not permitted to collect class registration fees.  Additional fees for materials, textbooks, etc. are payable directly to the instructor at the first class by check only, unless otherwise noted.

Refunds

NO FEES WILL BE REFUNDED. The student assumes the risk of all changes in business or personal affairs.  Fees will be refunded only if the Director of Continuing Education cancels the class.  Refunds due to course cancellation will be made after the close of the semester.

Senior Citizens

Persons age 62 and older are eligible for a reduction in tuition fees, only when specifically noted. There is no discount for costs of materials used in courses.  No other discounts apply.

No Smoking Policy

The Lakeland Central School District is a tobacco free environment by order of Federal and State law and Board of Education policy.  Smoking is prohibited in all school buildings, on school grounds, or in vehicles on school grounds.  Violations may be referred to the Board of Health.  The fine for violating this regulation is up to $1,000.

Instructors

We retain our Continuing Education instructors to teach a course in their area of expertise.  In our opinion, there are no better instructors to be found.  The instructors are not permitted to use the classroom for personal gain or to solicit clients or customers.  Therefore, we are not responsible for any advice or consultation given beyond the classroom setting and course curriculum material.

Lettter of Course Completion

Letters of course completion will be issued, on request, for company credit or reimbursement.

Liability

We assume no responsibility, either real or implied, for the personal property or injury of an adult student.  We are under NYS regulation that in the case of a fire alarm sounding, the building must be evacuated.
