2008-2009 Propositions
FOUR TRUSTEE POSITIONS OPEN
In addition to the above propositions, voters will select members of the Board of Education. There are three, three-year terms and one, two-year term open beginning July 1, 2008. The Board of Education is an unpaid, volunteer position. There are nine positions on the Lakeland Board of Education.
PROPOSITIONS ON THE BALLOT
PROPOSITION #1 (Budget): RESOLVED, that the sum of $141,165,890 shall be appropriated to meet the estimated expenditures for school purposes for the school year 2008-2009 and that the Board of Education be authorized to levy taxes to meet the same.
PROPOSITION #2 (Bus Proposition): That the Board of Education of the Lakeland Central School District of Shrub Oak, in the County of Westchester, New York, is hereby authorized to purchase various school buses, vehicles and equipment for use by the District and to expend therefor, including preliminary costs and costs incidental thereto and to the financing thereof, an amount not to exceed the estimated total cost of $1,210,000.
MIDDLE SCHOOL HOURS' ADVISORY REFERENDUM: Shall the Board of Education of the Lakeland Central School District of Shrub Oak, in the County of Westchester, New York, authorize a change in the daily start and end times at the Lakeland Copper Beech Middle School from 9:15 a.m. - 3:35 p.m. to 7:45 a.m. - 2:15 p.m. and at the District's five elementary schools from 8:25 a.m. - 2:40 p.m. to 8:40 a.m. - 2:55 p.m., and to ask the voters to approve any additional costs associated with such changes, effective September, 2009?
